Abstract: The objectives of this study were to (1) determine if elk would accept alfalfa in pellet form, (2) measure the condition (weight) of elk fed alfalfa pellets, as compared to elk fed baled hay, (3) measure the amount of waste of alfalfa pellets as compared to hay, and (4) determine equipment design and the feasibility of feeding pellets to large, unconfined herds of elk.
