Abstract: To help clarify processes regulating the Jackson Elk Herd, survival of juvenile elk that occupied the Grand Teton National Park and other summer ranges was compared. Also survival of elk that were fed in winter versus elk not fed were also compared. This paper reports on the role of juvenile survival in regulation of the Jackson elk herd. High survival rates of Jackson elk (58% for calves and 83% for elk > 1 year old) necessitate the continuation of hunting programs in Grand Teton National Park and the NER. Studies the survival and population control of the Jackson elk herd. Methodology; Survival estimates and statistical analysis; Discussion on the results of the study.
