Abstract: Pygmy rabbits (Brachylagus idahoensis) are among the smallest leporids in the world with a distribution that is limited to sagebrush-steppe habitats in western North America (Green and Flinders, 1980). Katzner et al. (1997) examined different aspects of the thermal energetics of this small-bodied species in an attempt to better understand how pygmy rabbits can remain active year round and survive in the highly variable and severe winter weather conditions encountered in different parts of their range.
