Abstract: Objectives To determine territory occupancy and nest success of the following: boreal owls, northern saw-whet owls, long-eared owls, northern pygmy-owls, western screech owls, flammulated owls and barred owls. Findings and Status Surveys for Boreal Owls were conducted on 9 nights during March and April; 12 locations were checked during surveys. One vocalizing male was detected on April 8, but was not detected during subsequent surveys. Surveys for Barred Owls were conducted on 2 nights during March at 2 locations. No Barred Owls were detected. Ice layers within the snow might result in decreased prey availability and might account for lack of detection of territorial Boreal Owls.
