Abstract: Objectives To determine if mountain chickadees experience a diurnal pattern of change in mass during winter and to monitor survivorship of chickadees. Findings and Status This project began in mid-December, 1997, so results are preliminary. As of 3/22/98, 18 mountain chickadees have been captured, with only one recapture. Over 40 pine grosbeaks have been captured, along with several Cassin's finches and red-breasted nuthatches.
