Abstract: This report summarized the ecology and migratory characteristics of the mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) wintering on East and West Gros Ventre Buttes adjacent to the town of Jackson, Teton County, Wyoming. Study objectives were: 1) to determine population size, age and sex structure, and density; 2) to determine the general extent of deer winter range; 3) to locate key wintering areas within the larger wintering area; 4) to determine time of migration and routes used; and 5) to investigate land and wildlife management options of the deer and their critical range.
