Gobi Bear Education & Outreach
CBS has helped to develop a science-based conservation plan for the recovery of Mongolia’s critically endangered Gobi Bear. With an estimated 30-45 bears remaining, Mongolia has designated 2013 as The Year of the Gobi. CBS worked with other organizations to create an interactive, educational book for Mongolian students. The work is titled “My Place, Your Place, Our Place,” and debuted at the 5th annual Conservation and Compassion Conference in Mongolia. The book was described by Buddhist Monks as “sweet and delicious.” The educational book addresses the bears’ environment and the conservation measures necessary for their preservation. The books will be distributed throughout the monastic schools in Mongolia, and local middle school students here in the Jackson Hole valley will work in partnership with Mongolian students on designated activities from the books.
